Luxurious Amenities Await Cruise Ship Guests by Matthew1
Cruise vacations give visitors a first-class tour of some of the most scenic locales around the globe, dropping them right into the center of the action in hot tourist destinations and picturesque beaches. But the cruise ships are not just a transportation method, like a car or plane. These âfloating resorts” not only take visitors to the fun, they bring a whole lot of wining, dining, pampering and entertainment with them on every trip. Cruise ships are legendary for their lavish meals and outstanding amenities, but the best part is that all this luxury is that it’s so affordable, with many cruise vacations priced under $1000 per couple!
Bring your appetite to a cruise vacation! Everyone knows that cruise ships provide a banquet of gastronomic delights, but what is often overlooked are the multitude of dining options now being offered onboard cruise ships. Like many cruise ships, Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas serves up the lavish smorgasbord feasts with an extravagant three-tiered dining room, serving sit-down breakfast, lunch and dinner and 24-hour room service. There are also an array of gourmet and ethnic delights to be found onboard however. Holland America’s Eurodam features the Tamarind Restaurant and Silk Den Lounge, a new Pan Asian Restaurant and the haute cuisine Pinnacle Grill, a reservations-only venue boasting Sterling Silver beef, seafood dishes and select wines, all presented on the finest china, stemware and linens. Other ships’ dining attractions include tapas, steakhouses, sushi bars and Teppanyaki rooms. As you can see, cruise dining has gone way beyond a bountiful buffet.
Being surrounded by pristine waters is definitely going to inspire some swimming and nearly every cruise ship is fully equipped to handle those desires. Celebrity’s Century, for instance features multiple wet and wild activities, like two outdoor swimming pools and four whirlpools for total relaxation. Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas delivers a new water attraction, the FlowRider, a 40-foot-long wave simulator on the top aft deck while Princess Cruises combines swimming with entertainment at the Movies Under the Stars, a giant poolside Time Square-style video screen that features the latest flicks.
Now after swimming and dining, everyone could use some time to unwind, especially after a day spent ashore touring the sights. Thankfully there are no shortages of spas and salons that will have guests not only looking great, but feeling fabulous as well. These spas feature everything from beauty treatments and massages to fitness centers, steam rooms and one-of-a-kind therapies. Princess Cruises’ Century Ship includes the AquaSpa that offers all these personal perks plus a Thalassotherapy Pool, with mineral-rich waters and hydrotherapy jets that are said to relieve chronic aches and pains. And when you’ve reached the height of relaxation, take advantage of new-found energy with an aerobics class, golf clinic or quick jog or game around the ship.
But you don’t always need to find something to entertain yourself on the ship. Sometimes after a day of sightseeing and activities, it is best to just kick back and let the entertainment come to you. Many cruise liners have entertainment playbills that rival those of Broadway and Las Vegas. And the best part is all the entertainment can be found in one place! Just take a look at the wide-range of entertainment offered on just Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Infinity: a three-story Celebrity Theatre with full production shows, Rendez-Vous Lounge with cabaret acts and comedians, cinema features and a piano bar within the Constellation Observation Lounge. There’s sure to never be a dull moment.
Now lavish shows, indulgent spa treatments and decadent cuisine are what cruises are famous for, but today’s cruise ships have a few surprises in store for visitors. The Norwegian Pearl for instance includes the hip new Bliss Ultra Lounge, a bowling alley/sports bar/night club complex and other ships feature fabulous and sometimes unexpected amenities like an ice rink, rock climbing gym, sundae bar, art galleries and enrichment classes. Many of the cruises feature lavish casinos that would make you wonder if you were visiting Monte Carlo. Continuing the high-class theme, several cruises feature wine and cigar bars and richly appointed libraries for quiet time. And who wouldn’t enjoy duty-free shopping in the opulent boutiques and open-air gallerias.
Take everything that a first-class resort has to offer and combine it with a variety of appealing stops and it is easy to see why a cruise vacation offers a well-rounded experience full of surprises. From shopping and dining to swimming and live theater, the cruise is a vacation in itself. Visitors get to relax and unwind at the spas and salons one minute and then can be part of the action in the sports gyms or high-energy clubs the next. It’s a veritable feast for the senses!
